Arribes del Duero Day Trip from Salamanca

Your day trip begins with a visit to Ledesma, a historic town located on the banks of the River Tormes. Ledesma has a rich Roman and medieval past, and its historic centre is home to several remarkable palaces dating from the 15th century. You will also have the opportunity to try the town’s traditional rosquillas, a typical local sweet.

We will then continue to the Almendra Reservoir. This impressive reservoir has served as a filming location for movies such as Doctor Zhivago and Terminator. Its dam is one of the most remarkable examples of engineering in Spain. Enjoy magnificent views of the reservoir and its surroundings from one of the viewpoints.

During the journey to the boat departure point, you will travel through the spectacular natural landscapes of the Arribes del Duero. Your guide will introduce you to the history, landscapes and natural environment of this unique cross-border region between Spain and Portugal.

Next, enjoy a boat trip along the River Duero. During the cruise, you will discover more about the flora and fauna of the Arribes del Duero Natural Park while enjoying the spectacular canyon landscapes created by the river.

After a lunch break, we will continue to the Mirador del Fraile, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the area. From its metal viewing platform suspended above the river, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the Duero canyon.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Salamanca.
